GCM update 7.10.2009

Cliff left a consulting firm due to lack of vertical progress and had been doing contract work for another company prior to joining GCM.  The resume he’d been using was long, dense, and difficult to read and had done nothing for him.  His new GCM resume built a focused context around his program/project management expertise while de-emphasizing his considerable technical background.  The new marketing docs caught the eye of several companies right away.  The offer he received came in at $115K, which GCM helped to negotiate to $118K to compensate for commute and expense.  He is pleased with the position, but may continue working with GCM to find an executive position in a small software firm.

GCM update 7.2.2009

Using his new GCM resume, as well as working diligently with GCM to improve his interviewing, presenting and networking skills, Craig began working his past network contacts – starting, as directed, with his references. After posting his new resume, the he gained interviews with several companies.  His networking effort resulted in an interview with a company he was interested in. He interviewed very well and was offered the opportunity, which he jumped at – and $5K above his previous base.

GCM update 6.26.2009

Mark was laid off after two years due to the economy and came to GCM to hot-wire his career search as his own efforts were going nowhere. The resume he’d done for himself had a number of the usual flaws: number of years experience, no context, work history too long, professional development not detailed, poor graphical and space utilization. As a result, the client’s confidence was down and he had begun internalizing a sense of failure. With his new GCM resume, a new strategic direction and framework, and with initial prep work on interviewing, presenting and networking, the client re-ignited his job search. His new resume was picked up almost immediately and after 2 interviews was offered the position as Sales Manager leading a 9-person team.

Larry found the compensation and potential for future growth was lacking with his previous employer, so he decided to join GCM.  New marketing materials and a structured strategic approach to his job search prepared by GCM resulted in immediate new interest from an assortment of companies.  He received rigorous interview prep for each opportunity and received the right offer.

GCM update 4.1.2009

Tom came to GCM as he was wrapping up the loose ends of his own mortgage brokerage that was going downhill right along with the rest of the industry.  He was tired of the virtual aspect of that industry as well and wanted to experience the day to day give and take of working with colleagues.  GCM worked to prep him for interviews with several companies and helped him with building rapport and identifying the needs of the company.  This resulted in an offer within an industry that was new to him with a compensation $14K higher than his previous.

GCM update 3.27.2009

Joe had a very successful job campaign using the GCM process and taking full advantage of the coaching that was provided.  He interviewed with several companies before landing the position he was hoping for.  The compensation package GCM helped him to negotiate is base plus bonus with the possibility of making $175K the first year, $200K the second.

GCM update 3.24.2009

Jon came to GCM to leverage his experience, get training to be a stronger interviewer and help build the perceived value he needed to put a solid foundation under his new career.   GCM revamped his resume and helped him map a new campaign strategy.  Within 4 weeks he won a position with a company making $9K over his previous salary.  This was the second position he got by using the GCM process.

GCM update 3.20.2009

Mahala did an excellent job of utilizing the GCM services and paid particular attention to honing her interviewing skills and knowing how to uncover needs and build value.  She had several interviews and negotiated as she was taught by GCM.  The final offer that she accepted resulted in a $15K increase over her previous salary and great benefits.
